Northeast Region

The Northeast region is home to diverse range of communities and experiences, from the Peace River Valley to the Rocky Mountains, cross-country skiing to rollicking rodeos, the vast region has something for everyone.

Connecting much of the region is the world famous 1500-mile Alaska Highway. Drive along this historic route for an adventure in itself. Built during WWII, this highway takes visitors through the remote wilderness majesty of the Northern Canadian Rockies.

The region is host to a variety of events and festivals such as the Fall Fair Pro Rodeo, Exhibition and Stampede in Dawson Creek. This is the largest event of its kind in Northern BC and Northern Alberta and not to be missed.

Prince George, the region’s largest city, offers a wealth of cultural and historical highlights such as the Two Rivers Gallery, The Railway and Forestry Museum, and Exploration Place. Visit the University of Northern British Columbia to see its stunning contemporary architecture, and enjoy a panoramic view of the city.

Throughout the Northeast there are numerous lakeside resorts, canoeing, hiking, biking and fishing, and for the winter visitor, downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.

Visit the Northeastern region for its unforgettable outdoor experiences, rich cultural encounters, and infectious northern hospitality.
